  • Nepenthes, Monkey jarĀ plantĀ also known as the Hanging or the Asian Pitcher plant, is among the most flamboyant plants. Due to its appearance of miniature wine glasses, with sharp hook-lined gullets that drown rodents & its carnivory features like the feeding of miniature features around. Monkey jar plants have an unusual leaf that at first looks like a normal leaf then develops a tendril from the tip and finally the tip of the tendril in turn develops a unique pitcher. These pitcher-shaped leaves function as a pitfall trap. And underneath the trap’s lid a type of nectar is secreted. These nectars attract creators like insects or flies. This stated feature or appearance signifies Monkey jar plantā€™s carnivorous feature. With being attracted to these nectars, prey often falls from the mouth of the pitcher and then to the pool liquid, eventually finding themselves unable to escape. Then the enzymes inside the pitcher digests the animal or creator trapped. This type of flower has no petals and produces minute seeds that are usually dispersed by wind. This unique feature with easy to maintain characters made them eye-catcher for houseplant lovers. Due to its unique carnivory feature and unusual foliage appearance and also easy to care, these plants could be an eye-catcher for any enthusiastic houseplant gardener.

  • In order to thrive well,Ā Nepenthes Monkey jarĀ plant requiresĀ 4- 6 hours of direct Sunlight, then rest of the day in front of filtered light. Water them enough to keep soil moist, but make sure not to overwater them. The soil on which this plant is supposed to be grown, it prefers to be Mix of 1-part dried sphagnum moss with 1-part of perlite. In terms of required temperature, during daytime it should be about 21 degree Celsius and during night it could be around 15 degree Celsius. And use organic fertilizers for feeding.
